System D v.2

System D is a wooden sculpture that includes 3 circles, 2 ovals and 8 wooden pieces. It was designed with my personal method of stringing (3D threads and animated visual) and the suspended method.

This special method animates the shapes thanks to the movement of UV reactive thread placed mathematically in 3D.

System D is my second attempt at creating a suspended 3D string art. Suspended 3D String art is one of the styles that were inspired by David Press’s work.

It is called System D (like David) to express all of my respect and my love to my dear friend, David Press.

The original project design started in December 2019 and was finished during the summer of 2021. That means that the first model took nearly 19 months (imagining it, finding the best material, designing the sculpture, making the culpture, stringing). 

The original model’s dimensions are 80cm * 50cm. It contains 13 wooden pieces, 576 holds (500 holds are used) and 102,8 m of threads.

System D is an experimental design, that means that while designing and creating the original work, I made mistakes until I found the final version that satisfied me. That is also why it is not for sale.
